The lack of civic care and the government’s negligence towards environmental issues was apparent. I kept performing in the streets wearing a Gas mask to both provoke the severity, a deep dilemma we face, as a community, and to highlight the threat that we live with. It was widely shared on social media and made news on national daily’s but it was not reaching to solutions. I felt the need to go beyond pointing out the issues and expand the definition of art through actions. In May 2018, I met with the Mayor of Kathmandu and submitted a proposal to look at the policy of land use and our attitude towards the environment. I proposed to increase greeneries in the city grappling with air pollution. While trying to meet and discuss with the authorities, I felt neglected and discouraged in various instances but I did not stop.
